This origami model was designed and folded by MIT sophomore Yeu-whai Kathy Lin. It was awarded Most Creative Composition in the First Juried MIT Student Origami Exhibition, 2003. She designed her own paper for this model; notice the sun and clouds! Also, if you look very closely, you will see that little words are written on the paper, "mit" in the clouds and "ihtfp" in the sun (abbreviating the title..).
The text in this image is not in the real model. The image is designed by Margaret Wong (used here with permission) based on a photo that I took of the real model. The image appeared on the front page of web.mit.edu on February 28, 2003, the day that the 2003 MIT Student Origami Exhibition opened.
The First Juried MIT Student Origami Exhibition was cosponsored by the MIT Office of the Arts Special Programs, the MIT Japan Program, and me. The jurors were myself, Martin Demaine, Jeannine Moseley, Anne LaVin, and Elsa Chen. The exhibition will be on display at the Office of the Arts (E15-205) until May 15, 2003. For more information, see
